In theory, it is possible that a member of the scientific staff will receive a lower salary than he had until now, since he would actually have to start again at level 1 of the experiment. However, collective agreements provide that this should never be done and that staff should be transferred to a higher level of experience, with at least equal pay. Within each pay chain, a distinction is made between levels of work experience relevant to individuals` current responsibilities. Since 2018, six stages of experience apply to all collective agreements, with an increasing length of stay at each level. Experience level 1 is reserved for beginners in the respective payment band. Researchers reach level 2 after only one year, but this period must be in a single employment contract. On the other hand, researchers take ten years to reach level 5.
